karavansara residences

Why is there no render and paint?

The Karavansara Residence is a structure built along the banks of the Siem Reap River near the temples of Angkor Wat. The building consists of 12 apartment units which all have views of the river as well as the town’s main pagoda.  The external walls of the building are constructed with handmade, local clay bricks that were made for the reconstruction of the temples of Angkor.  The building form is based on a U-shaped open courtyard which allows for all rooms in all the units to have natural ventilation and lighting. The deep overhangs of the balconies create sun-shading for the building as well as informal social spaces along the façade.
